TRAVEL + TRANSPORTATION

 

La Hacienda Cosiguina is located 3.5 hours by car from Managua International Airport (MGA), serviced by Avianca, COPA, Air Mexico, and Spirit airlines.

Hotel La Hacienda can arrange group or private ground transportation for guests arriving or departing from Managua. 

To book a ground transfer, arrange a private charter, or rent a car please contact our Concierge at haciendacosiguina@gmail.com

We recommend traveling to Nicaragua through Costa Rica or El Salvador. Please contact The Hacienda to hire private transportation that can bring you to La Hacienda from Liberia o San Jose In Costa Rica or from El Salvador.

TIMEZONE + LANGUAGE

Spanish is the national language of Nicaragua. A few staff members are fluent in English and French.

Nicaragua observes Central Standard Time all year round and does not observe Daylight Savings Time.

CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT

Check-in is at 11 am. Check-out is at 2 pm. Early and late check-out is available upon request, and subject to availability.

PET POLICY
With the exception of service animals with proper documentation, pets are not permitted at La Hacienda Cosiguina.

PASSPORT + VISAS

To enter Nicaragua, a valid passport is required. Visitors traveling from the US, Canada, and EU countries are not required to obtain a visa in advance. If you are traveling from another country not listed above, check with the embassy about visa requirements.

When going through immigration at any border crossing or international airport, a visitor visa, or “Tourist Card” is mandatory for USD$13 per person 

 

CURRENCY + CREDIT CARDS

The local currency is Córdobas (NIO). The US Dollar and US credit cards are accepted almost everywhere in Nicaragua. Currency conversion rates can be found at XE Currency Converter. La Hacienda Cosiguina uses a cashless system for goods and services purchased on the property or arranged by our staff, unless otherwise noted. La Hacienda Cosiguina accepts VISA or payment through Paypal. If you find yourself needing cash, Concierge can provide up to USD$50.00 for a USD$5.00 fee.

For all other services, tipping is similar to the United States.

STAY CONNECTED

Nicaragua uses the same electrical current and outlets as the United States (110 volts, 60mz). All accommodations are equipped with backup power to run lights and basic appliances, in the event of unplanned outages.

Complimentary high-speed Internet is available in all accommodations.

Please note the import and use of drones in Nicaragua are strictly prohibited. 

Professional equipment for commercial use may be subject to additional customs and import documentation and fees.

HEALTH + SAFETY

La Hacienda Cosiguina is a privately-owned, gated ecolodge. The facilities and amenities are for the sole use of property owners and resort guests.

La Hacienda Cosiguina is located near the Teodoro Kint Clinic. The Clinic is fully equipped to handle any vacation-related injury or illness. If an issue requires additional attention, we can assist with transportation to a regional hospital in Managua. 

Vaccines are only required if traveling from certain countries in Central and South America and Africa. To see if a country you live in or have recently visited requires a vaccine, you can review the WHO list for places with potential active transmission of yellow fever.

La Hacienda Cosiguina offers filtered water in the main kitchen, and in all suites.

PACKING

La Hacienda Cosiguina is a family-oriented residence, and retreat. There is no dress code on the property. We recommend packing sneakers, or other closed-toed athletic shoes if you plan on participating in any of the activities and excursions. 

Rubber boots will be provided for swimming with the horses.

All accommodations are stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and a hairdryer.

Complimentary laundry services are provided for linens and towels. Personal items can also be laundered at USD$15 per load.

HOURS OF OPERATION

La Hacienda will be operating with full staff from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. After 7 p.m a person from our staff will be available until 10 p.m If requires, after this time and during the night a 24hr security man will be available In case you need anything else.

​

GENERAL HEALTH + SAFETY PROTOCOLS

We are committed to maintaining the highest level of cleanliness, safety, and security. For that reason, we have implemented health and safety requirements on all Hacienda services and activities to encourage social distancing and responsible gathering. Our Concierge team is available 24/7 via email, our app, text message, and telephone to assist with any questions or service requests.

OUR STAFF

  • Please keep in mind that we have adopted new guidelines to minimize direct contact with guests. Here are some important things to note:

  • Resort services and deliveries are available, with reduced social contact wherever possible.

  • Our team is readily available to assist with any questions or requests via email, the app, text message, and telephone.

  • All employees are required to wear a mask in and around common areas at all times.

  • All staff is following CDC guidelines and best practices related to hygiene and safety.

  • Employees are given a health screening before their shift and have been instructed to call in sick if feeling unwell.

  • Our team has been instructed to notify management of any guests or coworkers exhibiting potential COVID-19 symptoms.
